What are VS and QS funds?
QS funds are earmarked funds that universities receive from the state of Baden-Württemberg to improve the quality of study and teaching (VwV).
VS funds may only be used for the statutory tasks of the student body (§ 65 paras. 2 to 4 LHG). Commercial activity is only permitted if it serves these tasks and is appropriate (§ 65b para. 7 LHG).
Allowed with VS funds
- Movie nights, theater and concerts for students
- Grants for counseling services, e.g. psychological or legal counseling
- Sports equipment and university sports
- Workshops and seminars on higher education policy topics
Not allowed
- Loans to finance larger projects
- Loans to an external organization
- Founding a company without the approval of the rectorate
